The objective of the Company is to provide capital appreciation through investment in a portfolio of smaller companies principally based in countries bordering the North Atlantic Ocean.
Structure
The Company is a UK listed investment trust and a member of the Association of Investment Companies.
Fund managers
Christopher Mills is a founding director of JOHCM and the Chief Executive and Investment Manager of North Atlantic Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC (NASCIT). Prior to joining the board of JOHCM in 1993, he was a director of Invesco MIM and Samuel Montagu International Limited. At Invesco MIM, he was head of North American Investments and North American Venture Capital. He is also a non-executive director of a number of UK and US companies.
Paul Cameron is a Senior Fund Manager who works alongside Christopher Mills on the active value funds. His particular focus is North American and UK equities. Prior to joining the Group, he worked at the Special Utilities Investment Trust based at F&C Management, where he spent five years as an Assistant Manager covering telecommunications, infrastructure and utility stocks on a global basis. Before that, he spent two years at Merchant Securities, a UK-based private client stockbroker, where he developed their in-house research service based on UK and US equities. He started working in the industry in Canada for private client brokers at Burns Fry and Nesbitt Thomson. He holds an MSc in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling and BAs in Mathematics and Economics from Carleton University, Ottawa.
Charles Groves works alongside Christopher Mills as Fund Manager on the Trident North Atlantic Fund, the Oryx International Growth Fund, the North Atlantic Smaller Companies Investment Trust (NASCIT) and the BV NAV Active Value Fund, with a focus on UK and European activist situations. He also has responsibility for all corporate finance aspects of North Atlantic Value LLP's shareholder activist business. Charles has significant experience in investment banking and fund management gained at UBS Warburg, on secondment to the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers, and subsequently as co-founder of a specialist equity research company. He holds an MA (Hons) in Modern History from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School.
